The image is the language of truth. In many imagery experiences, especially and not exclusively in the long inner journey of waking dream, there is a common experience of “bliss,” with an accompanying response of not wanting to return back here. The feeling is described also as “joy.”
There are two forms of joy: (1) with truth; (2) without truth. The latter occurs commonly during drug highs and other momentary experiences prompted by some external event (your team won the Super Bowl). Often these events are followed by some sort 
of letdown or deflation, leading to a craving for further external stimulation. The former comes about during an inner discovery in subjective reality. Such subjective experiences are connected to or concerned with a sense, however intense, of sacred or spiritual contact. Here we have an uncontaminated process that is unconditional — not dependent on external factors or circumstances. This is so because image is an unconditional language, a bridge between invisible and visible realities, and is therefore, by its nature, a language of truth. We express this discovery of truth as a feeling of joy that’s lasting, reverberating deeply within us, and informing our life constructively.
The excerpt below of a letter from a student of mine about her recent experiences underscores this point.
I am beginning this year in a new place which I want to thank you for guiding me to. The last few imagery sessions we shared have led me to a place I can only describe as finally being at home. God and I are occupying the same garden within my heart. It is a joyous place that, like any well-tended garden, continues to grow…
Yes, she found herself in this unifying experience where God, her heart, and joy all met. The heart, the seat of love, is where joy is felt and streams forth from to everywhere. That experience will last “forever” within her. No deflation there.
Along with joy connected with truth, we find an important emotional response called warmheartedness. A warm-hearted person is a loving one who experiences a joy of living and an urge to share with and care for others. Here the will to love replaces the will to power. The latter includes the will to dominate and subjugate, to wield power by what can be termed the five dark currents/energies of will: to take, to keep, to hold onto at the expense of others, to advance at the expense of others, and the desire to be great. With taking the opposite actions of those five, we come to an experience of joy and love. They are these: give (take), share (keep), renounce/relinquish (hold onto), service to others (advance), and humility (to be great). The unintended reward is a feeling of being unburdened, lightheartedness along with joy and love. We have now engaged the five light currents of will and have thereby brought life to life.
This new perspective brings a new dimension to business or any other of your life’s callings. Taking business as an example: Interest in business doesn’t stop. But, your way of doing business does change. As change occurs, the definition of business changes, as does the nature of business relationships from those of conflict, competition, dog-eat-dog, controversy, king of the hill, and so forth, to those of camaraderie, cooperation, conversation, service, helping hand, and so on. By responding in this new way, new meaning is injected into the pursuit of business, a new value-added benefit and overall healthy functioning for everyone concerned.
